Where did I go?

Sat Feb 14, 2009, 7:02 PM
Hey Everybody! Thought I would wish you all a Happy Valentine's day! Also, I thought I would give you all a good overview as to why I've been gone for the past two weeks.

So as you all know (unless I forgot to tell you), I am in multiple competitions and having to deal with a lot of events and so forth. I'll list off each event and probably talk a lot about a few of them while giving the rest just a brief overview.

Besides which, the following have been the major events that have been going on lately. My life at the moment isn't as crazy as it was before, so we'll see how things go and I hope to post more things up soon. Also, quick note that my art program, Adobe Photoshop, is still not working (scanner I'll have to check again) so what I'll be mainly doing is working on traditional medias.

:pointr:ALSO - UNTIL SCANNER IS FUNCTIONAL AGAIN, I WILL BE PLACING WATERMARKS ON MY ARTWORK!:pointl:
Sorry if it looks nasty or whatnot, but I do not wish for people to steal my credit.

Events/Competitions/Contests/Etc.
Slanted means Completed; Straight means Not Completed

1. Varsity Tennis Team - tryouts were for two weeks. Happy news is that both ~staroreo123 and I got on (it is both boys and girls tennis team - combo team, you could say)! So that will be going on a lot, but it shouldn't completely take me away from my art.

2. ACE Design - am in an Architecture, Construction, and Engineering national competition. Long story short, my college councilor thought it would be a good experience since I want to get into prosthetic designing and this competition deals with teamwork as well as rules, etc. Lately, the group's been working great so we hope to win first place and present our design in Washington D.C.

3. Japan Competition - a state competition where all the schools get to select three students and have the chance to win a trip to Japan! Out of 45 teams, my group got placed in either 6th or 7th place (I think that's pretty good considering this is our first time!). So we didn't win the trip, but the nice part is we get to try again next year!

Going to breakfast at a restraunt before competing was a lot of fun - mainly because of the waiter we had. He was this old Spanish gentleman who called us Señor and Señorita. That wasn't my favorite part about him - my favorite was paying the bill. Our teacher decided to pay for the entire meal, so he leans forward and whispers "If you go to the front of the restraunt, under five sheets of newspapers is a coupon book. On the 32nd page, there's a coupon you can use. Also, next to the newspaper stand is another coupon book with a completely different coupon you can also use." And he stylishly walks away carrying this stack of dishes. We were all like "Dude.. you're so awesome!" So when we left, he waved and shouted bye and we waved back saying bye. Once our team comes back next year, I hope we eat there again so that we can say 'hi'.

4. Literary Magazine - our school has a magazine that publishes student's poetry, short stories, or artwork (all in black and white). Because of lack of time, I didn't get to create any new artwork, but did get to enter in three of my writing work (although in my opinion they're fairly old). So we'll see if they get published.

5. Prom - I was asked out last Thursday to the prom (not describing what grade because that would give away part of my identity). So now I have to go in search of a wardrobe.

6. Ballroom Dancing - our instructor at the school wants us to hold a fundraiser. So we're going to be holding a dance and we'll perform in front of others. I believe our grand dance will be the Cha-cha, but am not sure.

7. SAT - will be taking that again in about 30 days or so, so I need to study up (again). My scores weren't horrible, but I felt I could have done much better so am giving it another blow! I'll also be looking more into scholarships as well as colleges/universities once again just to prepare.

8. Homework - you know, the usual. Third quarter is coming close to an end so I need to get work done. ^^ Oh, fun fact is that I'll be going to an Opera I believe next next week Wednesday. We'll be seeing Carmen - it'll be my first Opera experience.

9. Anime Convention - it's the ONLY thing on this list that's not related to school events. So I'll be going to another anime convention this year and be cosplaying once again. For those of you who know me personally, I hope to see you at the convention if possible or to enjoy the convention closest to you!

Prom! Ah, but, if I remember right you are a sophomore? If you are, congratz on getting asked out by an upperclassman. If not, congratz anyway.

SAT? Nice, I only made a 2140. I'm trying for boarding school, but I dunno about that. Since it's a science and math school, (NCSSM) and only two years (junior and senior, I'm a sophomore) This is my one year to apply. The only thing I have going for me is that I'm in AP Calculus, and AP Chemistry. My grades aren't that good though, hahah.

Who says I'm a sophomore? ^^ (I appologize, but whether I'm a sophomore, a fourth grader, or a 45 year old, I don't give out any information relating to my identity)

Thanks!

Oh woh - only a sophomore and you're already in such high classes. Isn't it usually that sophomores would take Alg. 2 as their advanced class? So my guess is that you either went to private school or you are extremely smart and skipped a bunch of grade levels in math.
:iconshanree:
Let me rephrase that, I also won't admit to any guesses about my physical appearance (such as gender, age, ethnicity, etc.)

*apologize (spelling error)

Ah well it sounds like you've got a lot of stuff going on offline, welcome to the party. I wish you a great deal of luck getting all that finished; it sounds like it'll take a lot of time to get through. Hmhmm... :)
:iconshanree:
Haha~ just a bit. ^^ Am actually not stressed, amazingly enough. I'm having fun with all these events.

So Ribbons, how's your end of the line been going? Any ups or downs lately?
:iconribbontail:
Ah I've been hanging on over on my end. I had another "omgpregnant" scare recently and this time was able to go see a professional about it, and it turns out that I've got some disease called "polycystic ovary syndrome". I've had chronic mood swings and depression since September of last year, so at least now I know the reason behind it all. The hard part is that I can't afford medication to treat it, as I no longer have health insurance...
-shrug-
I've got a debilitating hormonal problem and can't afford to cure it. Fun stuff.

But hey, it's good to hear that you're having fun with all the events and exciting stuff going on. The ballroom dancing especially sounds fun... dances with big groups are always a delight. It's a pity that it isn't going to be line dancing; if there's one type of group dancing that's fun, it's line dancing!
:iconshanree:
Oh I remember that. Last year, huh.. Feels like it's been a year, but it's also a little odd since that was around the time you and I had to get off dA for a while. So that was one of our conversations before our long vacation.

Is the medication you're talking about called antiandrogens? (it's a monthly dose if I remember correctly) I've read there are other ways to reduce the number of androgens depending on your condition (like for obesity, girls could lose weight which can restore the hormone levels to normal). You know me, if I can help out in any way, just let me know. ^^

You know, when we actually meet each other in person, we should have ourselves a dance. You're big into belly dancing and I'm enjoying these ballroom dance styles - it could be fun. Line dancing - there's a bit of that in the cha-cha, but I didn't know there was a style where you danced only in a line. It's partially sad, because of the few members we have, I'm learning both gender's role. I pick up on steps fast. Though for happy news, we convinced the school office to give us a larger room to practice in.
:iconribbontail:
Haha! Well that sounds like a ton of fun. I've never done the cha-cha before (or ballroom dancing for that matter), so I definitely wish you tons of luck learning it. Thank goodness for being a fast learner, huh? :XD:

But no, the birth control that I would have gotten is associated with insulin levels. I don't remember the exact name because it was well over a month ago, though I believe it was "Metformin" or something...? Ugh...
-shakes head-
:icondis-re-spect:
Private school it was. Took a math placement test and made algebra I in 6th grade, didn't like it (for I hadn't understood it as it was already two weeks in) and took pre algebra instead.

I swear you told me, last year, that you were 14. But it's whatevs. Lucky 45 year old/ fourth grader to get to go to prom then hahahah =P
